About David Alexanian

David Alexanian is a Canadian novelist, playwright, composer, and producer whose work explores moral duality, redemption, and the endurance of the human spirit. His fiction blends psychological realism with historical depth, often set against the turbulence of empire and the personal cost of survival.

He is the author of four traditionally published novels: Laplace’s Demon (2020), Marielle’s Witch (2021), Elodie’s Ghost (2022), and The Persian (2023). His short fiction has appeared in the A Christmas Across Time anthology series.

As a composer and producer, David integrates musical structure and cinematic rhythm into his storytelling, crafting works where narrative and emotion move in harmony. Drawing from his Armenian heritage and a lifelong interest in history and philosophy, he creates stories that confront darkness without surrendering to it—works that seek empathy, truth, and redemption amid chaos.

David divides his time between Toronto and Los Angeles were he can be found in noisy cafes writing the next story.

Creative Journey

David Alexanian’s creative path began with a fascination for storytelling in all its forms—literature, music, and film. Before publishing his first novel, he spent years developing a disciplined writing practice rooted in structure, emotion, and rhythm. Those same instincts later expanded into composing and producing, where narrative and sound converge to express what words alone cannot.

His debut novel, Laplace’s Demon (2020), introduced readers to his signature blend of moral inquiry and psychological depth. The subsequent novels, Marielle’s Witch, Elodie’s Ghost, and The Persian, deepened that exploration, tracing how individuals endure loss, faith, and redemption within turbulent worlds. Each book built upon the last, forming an interconnected body of work unified by a single question: how does conscience survive in the face of darkness?

As a Canadian artist of Armenian heritage, David’s work reflects both cultural inheritance and lived experience. The Armenian story—one of survival, resilience, and reinvention—has shaped his understanding of art as a form of endurance. Whether through fiction, composition, or collaborative production, his goal remains constant: to create works that challenge, move, and humanize.

For David, the creative journey is not a pursuit of perfection but of truth. Every story, melody, or character becomes part of a larger conversation about what it means to live with purpose and empathy in a fractured world.
